9.5 stars out of 10: because ratings should go first.
Choosing the best guardians of the galaxy movie is like trying to choose between apple cherry and blueberry pie: they’re all incredible.
The main characters: Rocket, Quill, Drax and Groot are as just as loveable and fun to watch as ever.
Gomora is much more like Nebula this time around in that her true emotions are trapped beneath her thick neon skin and Mantis has some pretty great one-liners and her one-sided character is developed a bit further in this third installment of the franchise.
Not the typical story you would expect from a Guardians of the Galaxy movie; you might be surprised by the amount of drama director James Gunn manages to inject into the script: Rockets’ dreams about the story of his childhood will make you fight back tears.
The film has the usual G of G charm and wit but be prepared to pause for long silent reflections on the meaning of life because this epic will make you wonder.
While the new villian Chukwudi Iwuji gives a very powerful performance as The High Revolutionary his character is a bit too volatile to be liked even as the antihero. Although he’s not really the antihero he just sees himself in that light to no end. Iwuji seems either always on the verge of breaking down in tears or screaming like he’s on an island in the middle of the ocean and it feels like he’s always reciting a line from Shakespeare (whatever that means.)
While the Orgosentry (am I saying that right?) uniforms are hilarious for all the wrong reasons the rest of this movie was on point.
With the next chapter of the Avengers: Kang Dynasty delayed until mid 2026 and all the spin-offs one had to wonder if Marvel had lost its well, marvel. False!
The only bad thing about G o’ G 3 is having to wait to find out if there is going to be a part 4 because I loved every minute of the trilogy and can’t wait to see what Marvel studios will come up with next.
